Diapers will be sent out at least 1 week prior to your due date so that you can familiarize yourself with the diapers and prep them. If you would prefer to have your diapers earlier, please contact us to find out about adding 2-3 weeks to your rental period.
Normal staining is to be expected, but can be minimized by doing a rinse on cold first before washing the diapers. You can also hang the diapers in the sun, which will often get rid of stains. The life of the diapers will be increased by line drying, rather than using a dryer. Diapers need to be sent back in dry, laundered condition. We WANT you to use these diapers and fall in love with cloth, but hope that you will care for these!
If you use a diaper cream, you must use one that is cloth-diaper-friendly. CJ’s Butter is great for rashes! Creams like Desotin may NOT be used and will ruin the diapers- you will be charged for the diapers if they become unusable due to not using the proper cream. If you are unsure of what you may/may not use, please ask before using! If your little one is using medication that needs to be applied topically, or you want to use a cream that’s not ok to use, please use a diaper liner like the GroVia disposable liners or the Kanga Care washable liners. These will protect your diapers!
Diaper trial program begins 7 days after you receive your diapers. Please contact us 3-4 weeks before you would like to begin the trial so we can make sure we have your items in stock. We may have availability before then, but for best selection, the more notice you can give, the better. Diapers must be sent back and postmarked by 5 days after your rental period ends unless you have contacted us and decided to extend your rental period. You must ship back using delivery confirmation and insurance is highly recommended! You are responsible for getting the diapers back to us. Extensions are made on a monthly basis. Diaper trial programs for Lil Joeys and bumGenius are USA- only- if you are international and would like to do a rental program, please choose the Fuzzibunz program.
In the case that the diapers are not returned or you elect to keep certain diapers, you will be charged the full retail price minus 10% discount on the items kept.
Deposits will be returned in the same form made (cash back) within 5 days or receiving the diapers.
Discounts are not valid with trials.
Standard rentals are a maximum of 24 diapers. Plus rentals are 24+. In the event more than 24 diapers are added to a standard rental the order will be canceled and a Plus rental will need to be placed.
Please ask any questions before purchasing- diaper rental periods are non-refundable- if you are unsure if this is for you, you may want to start off with a one-month rental.
Diaper Rental Frequently Asked Questions
The decision to cloth diaper may be an easy choice or one where you are wavering. A way to help you decide is to participate in the rental program. This way you can step in one toe at a time, so to speak, instead of diving right in, and get a feel for how cloth works. You can also try various types of diapers to experiment with which ones you prefer. We’ve tried to make the process as easy as possible, and know that if you have any questions, we are here to help!
This depends on which package you choose! We have premade newborn packages with the option of 8, 16, or 24 diapers, as well as create your own packages where you decide which diapers and how many of each kind you want to add. The length of the rental period will also determine the cost. For example, you can rent FuzziBunz diapers for $30 a month, $55 for two months, or $80 for three months. The cost of renting these won’t change based on the number of diapers you have, but the deposit WILL change. If you rented 8 diapers for one month, the cost would be $30 plus a $70 deposit (that you’d get back in cash once the diapers are returned), but if you wanted 24 diapers, the deposit would change to $200. It is recommended that to cloth diaper full time, you choose at least 16 diapers. Newborns may use 10 diapers per day, so you want to make sure you have enough so that you won’t have to wash every day.
Yes! Each rental order will come with one sample of CJ’s Butter and one sample of cloth diaper-friendly detergent. There are many other benefits to our rental! Any “extras” you order, such as detergent, a wet bag, cloth diaper-safe diaper cream, etc. are 10% off with your rental. Plus you can add this to your registry, you will get cash back from your deposit (or opt for store credit and get a $10 bonus), if you choose to keep your diapers you will get 10% off the cost of the diapers, plus points towards Kissed Cash on this purchase. Also, if you choose to keep ALL of your diapers, you will get 50 bonus points! Plus, these diapers are brand new!
You will want at least a week before your baby is due to make sure you have everything you need, to prep your diapers, and to feel comfortable with them. If you are starting after your baby is born or even with an older baby, there is no “right” time to start- as soon as you decide you want to try cloth diapering, feel free to start! Your diapers will be sent at least 1 week before your start date, so if you want more time to ease into cloth diapering, make sure to put an earlier start date. Also, please try to give at least 3-4 weeks’ notice so that we can ensure we will have your diapers in stock. We may be able to accommodate you within a few days, but can’t guarantee this. If your baby comes early, that’s not a problem- just let us know and we will get the diapers to you. If your baby decides to hang out a bit longer or you decide you don’t want to get started immediately, you can postpone the rental up to a week- not a problem! If you want to purchase other items in the same order as the rental, that is fine, but we will send the items together- if you prefer to have certain items ahead of time, please place separate orders.
That’s up to you, but you’ll want a few basics. It’s recommended that you get a pail liner to put around a trash can to store your soiled diapers, or a wet bag that zips. As well, since diaper rash creams like desotin will ruin cloth diapers, you will want a cloth diaper-safe rash cream to use. Other than that, we do have detergents that are safe for cloth diapers. You may also use more mainstream detergents like All Free and Clear, Allens Naturally, Country Save, Mountain Green Free and Clear, and Tiny Bubbles. You might want to get a diaper liner to reduce mess- some options are disposable liners or reusable liners. Another item is cloth wipes- these are so easy to use and you can just throw them in the wash with your diapers!
Payment is due when you place the order for the rental program, whether that’s two months or three weeks before your start date.
You will get cash back from your deposit! Should you choose to forgo this and opt for store credit, you will get an extra $10 credit to use towards anything in the store!
You will not initially earn points on the rental, but you WILL earn points for every diaper you decide to keep at the end of your rental period! If you choose to keep everything, you will get a bonus of 50 points!
Yes! Make sure you have registered first. Directly under the drop down menus, you will see an “add to registry” option.
Shipping to you is free to you! You may ship the diapers back any way that you prefer, but you will need to get delivery confirmation and insurance is recommended in case the diapers get lost along the way. You are responsible for making sure they get back to us postmarked within five days of your end date. If you end up buying less than $25 worth of diapers or accessories either when you check out or when you return the diapers,, you will need to pay for shipping.
It’s expected that the diapers will be returned used- this means there may be some staining (you can minimize this by using liners, a diaper sprayer, washing soon after use, or by sunning your diapers) and you will NOT get charged for this. You also need to make sure you use detergent that is diaper-friendly (we have a few kinds to choose from). However, if the diapers are returned in damaged condition due to using non-cloth-diaper-friendly creams, smell of smoke, or have other damages such as marks other than what would be considered “normal” use, you will be charged the cost of the diaper. Also please make sure that when you send the diapers back they are laundered, totally dry, and don’t have any pet hair on them. If they are not, we’ll have to clean them and you will be charged $25 for this. If the diapers are so damaged due to diaper rash cream or other extreme use that they are considered unusable, you will be charged the cost of the diaper.
If you want to keep some or all of the diapers, please let us know and we will calculate the cost. You will get a 10% discount on these and the deposit will cover some of the diapers so you may not have to add much or any at all! You will also get points added to your account towards Kissed Cash once you buy the diapers. If you do not return the diapers, you will be charged for them. If you choose to keep ALL the diapers, you will get 50 extra Kissed Cash points!
You have up to 5 days after your rental period ends to have the diapers postmarked to us with delivery confirmation. That means that they diapers must be sent out within the 5 days- it’s not expected that they get to us in that time. You may use whatever shipping method you prefer- but again, make sure you have delivery confirmation and it’s recommended that you buy insurance. Should the diapers get lost on their way to us, you are responsible for the cost of the diapers.
We have a section on our site called “Loved Diapers”, and a lot of these come from the diaper rental programs. These diapers typically haven’t been used for more than a month, and are a great deal for people not needing new diapers!
The rental fee is non-refundable, so if you pay for three months and decide to cancel after two months, you will be charged the cost of the three month rental. If you decide that you adore cloth diapering and want to buy these outright early and stop the rental before your rental period is over, we can apply the difference towards the cost of the diapers.
In order for the diapers to reach their full absorbency, you will want to wash them several times before the first use. You can throw the diapers and inserts in together. Hemp items take a bit longer to reach their full potential- you’ll probably want to wash at least 5 times to prepare everything.
There are ways to minimize staining- if you use a diaper liner, the diaper is protected and staining is rare. You can also use a diaper sprayer to remove any excess waste immediately when changing the diaper. Washing every 1-2 days will help keep the staining minimal. When you do wash the diapers, it’s recommended that you do a cold rinse cycle first. Sunning the diapers, or hanging the in the sun will help bleach stains naturally. While stains might not look beautiful, they won’t harm the function of the diaper.
Cloth diapering is super easy and addicting, and we just want the world to see how easy it is! There are so many misconceptions about cloth diapers and people often fear the unknown. Our goal is to make cloth diapering easy for you and to answer all questions you might have about it before deciding whether it’s something you want to continue doing. We just can’t get enough of cloth diapers and really hope that you will share the love we have with them! We’re also hoping that with the cost being so low, you won’t be afraid to try something you may have just been thinking about- you might find your new love, like we did!
